  • Abstract:

Recent advances in the field of concrete durability are presented. The subject is considered within the main areas of durability as outlined by the American Concrete Institute. Reference is made to durability requirements relating to field performance of concrete. A search of the recent literature allows the choice of references on areas of advance in durability studies. If there is a general desire for durable structures, greater attention will need to be focused on potential causes of such problems and how to minimize them in each case. In order to achieve this, a knowledge of the most recent advances must be transferred to practice. Paper does not refer to LWA, but is of interest to all concrete producers and users.
