Comprehensive guidance on the design of buildings constructed of reinforced lightweight-aggregate concrete is given, for the first time in Britain, by the publication recently of the revisions to British Standard Code of Practice CP 114 (1957). Until now, the only official pronouncement on this type of concrete was contained in the conditions attached to waivers given by the then London County Council permitting the use of lightweight aggregates. Some comments on the recommendations of the revised Code are given in the following.
