  • Abstract:

Kruft near Andernach is home of Ehl-Beton. this medium-size enterprise manufactures a comprehensive product line comprising concrete pavers and interlocking paving blocks, L- and U-shaped kerbstones, as well as products for garden and landscaping. This heavy concrete product line is especially significant, as the factory is situated in the heart of the pumice region, the traditional source of raw material for manufacture of lightweight concrete. Apart from this peculiarity, this company has been successful in erecting a largely automated production system which requires merely three employees, including the forklift operator, for supervision and operation. The cooperative effort between concrete factory and machine factory resulted in realization of a concept which permits production in confined areas without negatively affecting the flexibility of the production range. Cost-effective quality production is one of the requisites to survival on today’s highly competitive market. In English and German.
