  The subject of this report is concrete masonry units, made with rotary kiln process, coated or uncoated, expanded shale, clay, or slate aggregates.The purpose of the investigation was to consider including in the Standard for Concrete Masonry Units, UL 618: (1) expanded slate and (2) coated or uncoated expanded slate, shale or clay aggregate.
  Review of data contained in the Report R3746-1-2-3-4 dated April 14, 1958 and other information in File E3746, was made under this investigation.
