  The objective of this research is two-fold: to establish the strength of the newly developed concrete masonry unit and compare its structural behavior and overall strength with standard normal weight concrete masonry unit; and to criticize the current masonry strength testing methods specified by codes and explore other alternatives to unify and simplify the masonry, mortar, and group assemblage.
