Transport properties of concrete have been subject to extensive research as indicators of the durability of concrete and modeling parameters for predicting the service life of concrete. Existing research suggests that application of lightweight aggregate enhances these properties in structural lightweight concrete. Further, the internal curing using fine lightweight aggregate enhances the durability of normalweight concrete. There are numerous models using transport properties to predict the service life of the concrete, including Life 365TM and STADIUM®. This new study utilizes laboratory data to objectively assess the benefits of lightweight aggregate using these models.
