The Expanded Shale Clay and Slate Institute has recently released the following Technical Information Sheets. Please click on the links to go directly to the sheets.
Freeze-Thaw Durability of Structural Lightweight Concrete Made with ESCS Aggregates
7900.093-2024
Structural lightweight concrete can be just as durable and resistant to the effects of freezing and thawing cycles as normal weight concrete. The same principles for creating resistance to freezing and thawing apply to structural lightweight concrete and normal weight concrete. Properly air-entrained concrete will be durable concrete, whether normal weight or lightweight, as demonstrated in this information sheet.
What About Deflection?
7900.082-2022
This Information Sheet intends to present recommendations for structural lightweight aggregate concrete and supplement the requirements presented in the Code. The subject of deflection is treated in general terms in ACI 318 (Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete).
Structural Lightweight Concrete in the Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete
ACI 318-19 7900.095-2019
This Information Sheet aims to serve as an aid in locating and applying those provisions of “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318-19)”, which specifically cover structural lightweight concrete.
