  Trends have demanded that, in many instances, multi-occupancy structures be sound-proofed to preserve privacy for residents and owners. Utelite expanded shale lightweight concrete is one product that is economically solving this problem.Utelite is an expanded shale, produced by the rotary kiln process. Born of fire, Utelite not only has sound-proofing properties, but excellent thermal properties as well.
  Properly compounded with portland cement, fly ash, water and air-entrainment, the lightweight aggregate produces a lightweight concrete that can be pumped to almost any portion of a structure where it is required.
  Utelite lightweight concrete is as available as your ready-mix concrete producer, and can be placed by any concrete mason or other party familiar with concrete placing, finishing and curing.
  Since it takes no special trade to supply or install the product this lightweight concrete can be had for an installed price far below the cost of other product lines offered for this application.
  The amount of sound and fire control depends upon the entire system and other components of the floor construction.
