  • Abstract:

Storey-high room-size wall panels of lightweight concrete of porous structure represent one solution for cost-saving construction. Lightweight concrete of porous texture is a concrete made with aggregate particles of internal porosity containing only so much fine-grain mortar as necessary for surrounding the aggregate particles without however filling the cavities between the particles after compaction. By this technique, low bulk density and favorable thermal insulation are attained. Wall panels of this type are manufactured in Denmark and in the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein. Up until now, this type of wall panels was classified in West Germany under “new building materials and building methods” for which a general statutory approval must be obtained. In German and English.
