  • Abstract:

The influence of film-forming polymer microparticles on the freeze-thaw resistance of structural lightweight aggregate concrete is studied. These results are compared to those of structural lightweight aggregate concrete made with conventional air entrainment (CAEA) and hard polymer microparticles (CMT 1), having no firm-forming ability. The tests were performed in the laboratory as well as in the field. The effect on film-forming microparticles addition is also studied on normal concrete. It is concluded that the film-forming microparticles used increased the freeze-thaw resistance of the structural lightweight aggregate concrete as well as of normal concrete.
