  • Abstract:

The author illustrates the practicalities, concerns and advantages of using lightweight concrete, based on his experience as a practicing engineer. His presentation is based on 3 Waterman Partnership projects, namely: Cutlers Gardens in the City of London; The Cutlers Company Project, also in the City of London and London Bridge City on the South Bank between London Bridge and Tower Bridge facing the City of London. Cutlers Gardens was an in situ reinforced concrete framed building, while Cutlers Court and London Bridge City were buildings framed is steel using composite construction.
